General Information About Summer Practice

 

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SUMMER PRACTICE REPORTS

 

Dear All,

 

If you have done a summer practice, you are required to submit your summer practice reports to Internship Office (K1-209) between October 17th to October 19th, 2018. Late submissions will not be accepted. You should register for CE300/400 course (section of the instructor that will grade your report) and get your approval as previous semesters. You can register for CE300/400 during add-drops as well.

Probation students should also submit their reports until the deadline, even though they are not able to register for the course.

 

With your summer practice reports you are required to submit following documents (as explained in http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice):

1. Application Form, signed and sealed by the company

2. Survey Form, (this form will be filled by the person/company responsible from the intern)

3. Summer Practice Report, (together with the first page of the Summer Practice Guide -information about the student and the internship- and signed and stamped daily Summary Forms)

4. Summer Practice Evaluation Form (2nd or 3rd page of the summer practice guide) should be filled out, signed and sealed by the company and then it will be delivered to the summer practice office in a closed envelope. Second copy of this form will be kept in the company.

 

SUMMER PRACTICE REPORTS WITHOUT FILLED AND APPROVED SUMMARY FORMS FOR EACH DAY OF THE SUMMER PRACTICE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

 

STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO REGISTER FOR CE300/400 SUMMER PRACTICE COURSE FOR 2 (two) CONSECUTIVE SEMESTERS NEED TO REPEAT THEIR SUMMER PRACTICES AS THEIR INTERNSHIP WILL BE INVALID. THIS RULE APPLIES TO PROBATION STUDENTS AS WELL.

CE300-400 SUMMER PRACTICE GUIDELINE:

Summer Practice = (CE300 AND 400) YOU SHOULD FINISH YOUR APPLICATION AT LEAST 15 DAYS BEFORE STARTING YOUR SUMMER PRACTICE.
1. PRINTING OUT THE SUMMER PRACTICE APPROVAL FORM AND THE SUPERVISOR OF INTERN SURVEY. THEN, THE SUMMER PRACTICE APPROVAL FORM FILLED OUT WITH THE COMPANY AND  SUPERVISOR OF INTERN SURVEY FILLED OUT BY THE COMPANY EXECUTIVE SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE DEPARTMENT (IN SEPTEMBER, THE ORIGINAL COPY OF THIS DOCUMENT SHOULD BE DELIVERED AS SIGNED AND SEALED TO THE STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE OF THE DEPARTMENT.)
2. USE THE LINK IN THE SUMMER PRACTICE PAGE FOR ONLINE APPLICATION.
3. DEPENDING ON YOUR INSURANCE STATUS, YOU SHOULD FILL THE CORRESPONDING DOCUMENT (IN SUMMER PRACTICE PAGE) AND DELIVER IT TO THE DEPARTMENT.   
4. BEFORE STARTING YOUR SUMMER PRACTICE, YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR INSURANCE DOCUMENT FROM THE SUMMER PRACTICE OFFICE OF THE DEPARTMENT (K1 BUILDING ROOM-208 PHONE: 2107410)
5. YOU SHOULD TAKE SUMMER PRACTICE BOOKLET FROM THE SUMMER PRACTICE OFFICE OF THE DEPARTMENT OR FROM THE FACULTY OF ENGINNERING BEFORE YOU START SUMMER PRACTICE. (1st page of this booklet will be the 1st page of your summer practice report. 2nd page will be filled out, signed and sealed by the company and then it will be delivered with summer practice application form to the registrar’s office of the department, in September, as in a closed envelope.)
6. EXPLANATIONS ABOUT THE SUMMER PRACTICE REPORT ARE ON THE SUMMER PRACTICE PAGE. THESE REPORTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO YOUR REGISTERED SECTION’S FACULTY MEMBER UNTIL THE END OF THE ADD-DROP WEEK AFTER INTERACTIVE REGISTRATIONS PERIOD.

SUMMER PRACTICE ANNOUNCEMENT

ALL THE STUDENTS MUST HAVE AN INSURANCE FOR THE SUMMER PRACTICE. THE INSURANCE WILL BE PROVIDED BY METU.

A) For the students whose families are obliged to insure them (healthcare costs are paid by one of the family member’s insurance or health record is received via this person’s insurance), only Short Term Insurance Premium (Occupational Accidents and Diseases) of rate of %1 will be paid. B) For the students whose families are not obliged to insure them, Short Term Insurance Premium of rate of %1 and General Health Insurance Dept of rate of %5 will be paid. HENCE, AT LEAST 20 DAYS BEFORE THE SUMMER PRACTICE, ALL THE REQUIRED INFORMATION SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE DEPARTMENT ELECTRONICALLY.

ALSO, STUDENTS SHOULD RECEIVE THEIR INSURANCE DOCUMENT PRINTOUTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT BEFORE STARTING THE SUMMER PRACTICE.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE APPLICATION

 

FIRST, YOU WILL FILL IN THE SUMMER PRACTICE APPLICATION FORM WITH THE COMPANY.

(This form should be filled with the information gathered from the company and these informations should be entered to the online system on the summer practice page.) ALSO, STUDENT INFORMATION FORM FOR SUMMER PRACTICE WILL BE FILLED IN. (SUMMER PRACTICE APPLICATIONS WILL BE MADE AS ONLINE.) SUPERVISOR OF INTERN SURVEY

1. YOU SHOULD PRINT OUT THE SUMMER PRACTICE APPLICATION FORM AND FILL ALL THE REQUIRED PARTS WITH THE INFORMATION TAKEN FROM THE COMPANY.
2. USING >>APPLY<< LINK OR BY CLICKING THE LINK BELOW YOU WILL ACCESS TO SUMMER PRACTICE APPLICATION PAGE (PASSWORD AND INFORMATION FROM SUMMER PRACTICE APPLICATION FORM AND STUDENT INFORMATION FORM FOR SUMMER PRACTICE).
3. FILL ALL THE BLANK PARTS WITH THE INFORMATION YOU GATHERED FROM THE COMPANY.WHEN YOU SEE "SUCCESSFUL" MARK ON SCREEN, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE COMPLETED.
4. EVERY WEEK ON WEDNESDAYS
, DEPARTMENT AUTHORITIES WILL CHECK THE VALIDITY OF YOUR APPLICATION. IF YOUR APPLICATION IS APPROPRIATE AND VALID, IT WILL BE ANNOUNCED AS ACCEPTED ON APPLICATION RESULTS LINK. REJECTED APPLICATION WILL ALSO BE ANNOUNCED ON THE SAME PAGE WITH THE REASONS OF REJECTION. REJECTED APPLICATIONS WILL BE EDITABLE ON THE SAME PAGE. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHANGE ANY INFORMATION ON THAT PAGE.


REMARK: STUDENTS SHOULD TAKE SUMMER PRACTICE BOOKLET BEFORE THEY START SUMMER PRACTICE.  THIS BOOKLET CAN BE BOUGHT FROM THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE OF THE DEPARTMENT OR FROM THE PHOTOCOPY ROOM OF THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING BUILDING.
