Course ContentIntroduction to uncertainty and data analysis with emphasis to civil engineering applications. Fundamentals of probability including conditional probability, statistical independence, Bayes’ Theorem. Random variables and modeling variability. Functions of random variables. Random vectors, uncertainty propagation. Random sampling and parameter estimation. Statistical inference. Probability model tests. Regression analysis and introduction to simulation. Introduction to reliability-based design concepts and risk analysis.
