Course Objective

To improve student’s ability to model various kind of flow problem; theoretical consideration and their application to real problems. The focus will be given to description of the turbulence phenomena and the modeling of the turbulent flow

Course Content

Governing equations of fluid flow. Coordinate systems. Potential flow, complex potential, method of images, 3-D potential flows. Boundary layer theory, 2-D boundary layer. Turbulence; validity of Navier-Stokes equations for turbulence. Modeling of turbulent flow; closure problem, second order closure turbulence models, near wall turbulence models.

Learning Outcomes

Students will improve ability to model various kind of flow problem; theoretical consideration and their application to real problems. They will learn description of the turbulence phenomena and deal with the modeling of the turbulent flow
