The objective of this course is to unable the students to understand of the application of FIDIC contracts and specifications, construction techniques, especially formwork and scaffolding systems, discuss engineering, health and safety aspects of construction.
The course shall cover practical aspects of construction engineering and advances in construction technology by referring to real cases taken from the construction industry. Case studies cover a natural gas distribution system, thermal power project, pipeline project, sewage and drainage system, highway project etc. Moreover FIDIC conditions of contract will be discussed bu referring to applications in different constrction projects. Claim documentation, preparation and management of claims shall also be covered in this course.
At the end of the course unit, the learner is expected to be able to apply FIDIC contracts and specifications, Public Procurement Law, select appropriate formwork and scaffolding systems, prepare method statements for the work items in any type of construction.
