Our students were among 1500 eligible undergraduate students who are supported to take part in 1359 different research projects across Türkiye.

In line with the goal of developing qualified human resources / researchers for our country, in order for undergraduate students to gain an R&D culture, to take the first step in the research ecosystem and to encourage them to do research, The Ministry of Industry and Technology and Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) established "TÜBİTAK STAR Trainee Researcher Program" in 2020. In this context, with the project-based scholarship program, it is aimed that our successful students gain research experience in the fields of science and technology they are interested in, take part in scientific research projects in addition to their academic studies and improve their research skills. STAR candidates were asked to receive an acceptance letter stating that they will take part in the project before applying for the program. Students who received a letter of acceptance were placed in the projects they wanted to take part in, in line with the quotas determined by the project coordinators, after the evaluation made by taking into account their General Weighted Grade Point Average (CGPA) and University Entrance Ranking.

METU Civil Engineering Department undergraduate students Ali Serkan Bayar, İlke Çakır, Sena Melis Kaleli, Seyfi Can Şenel and Onur Alp Şişman were awarded a scholarship within the scope of the "TÜBİTAK STAR Trainee Researcher Program". We congratulate the project advisors and students and wish them success in their project work.
