METU CE students are finalists at ASCE student competition
The team composed of METU Civil Engineering undergraduate student Satuk Bugrahan Sari and graduate student Muhammet Durmaz are selected as finalists and are invited by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) GeoInstitute to present their results at the student competition named "Geoprediction", which will be held during the annual geotechnical conference: Geocongress https://www.geocongress.org/) on Feb. 26th, 2020, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The oral presentations will constitute the 30% of the total points in the competition.
The competition topic was about predicting the failure surface location of a real landslide that occurred in USA. The students were given the results of site investigation including limited number of boreholes, Standard Penetration Test results and only Atterberg limits and they were asked to predict the failure surface of the landslide. We congratulate our students and wish them good luck in the remaining parts of the competition!
