Our department's 4th-year student, Öykü Özcan, was elected as the IACES President for the 2024-2025 term during the General Assembly of Representatives (GAR) voting held at ACCESS'24 (Academic Congress of Civil Engineering Students), which took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from September 29 to October 6, 2024.

IACES (International Association of Civil Engineering Students) is a non-profit organization established in 1989. With 21 local committees in 14 different countries, IACES aims to bring together civil engineering students and graduates from various countries through diverse events, facilitating knowledge and cultural exchange among them. One of the local committees of IACES is located at our university. Representing IACES at our institution, the IACES METU Local Committee is a student organization affiliated with our department.
