General Information About Summer Practice
To the Attention of Students Who Will Do Their Summer Practice!

Place of Summer Practice Preference and Information
First of all, you need to find a suitable place with at least one civil engineer to do your summer practice.
CE 300 is the construction site internship (20 working days) and, CE 400 can be done as a site or office (project) summer practice (30 working days).
If you work on Saturdays at the company office or construction site, Saturdays will be counted as working days. However, places such as public institutions that do not work on Saturdays are excluded from this scope. The Saturday working situation must be signed in the daily summary form by the chief who is responsible for the intern.
According to the academic calendar, the earliest summer practice start date is June 20, 2024, and the latest summer practice completion date is September 24, 2024.
Students attending the summer school, which is between July 16 and August 29 2024, will be able to do a summer practice except for these days.
Students who will do summer practice have to register for the summer practice course (CE300 or CE400) at the beginning of the following semester. If a student does not register for the summer practice course in 2 (two) semesters after the summer practice, the summer practice will be invalid. This rule also applies to students on Probation status. Students in this situation need to do a new summer practice after two semesters.
Students who do summer internships will upload their internship reports to ODTUClass at the beginning of the next semester. Students on probation will submit their internship reports to the "Summer Practice Office." Otherwise, their internships will be deemed invalid.
You can find information about places of summer practice in our “Summer Practice Board.” The online summer practice application starts on February 20, 2024, and ends on August 28, 2024. (Except those whose excuse is accepted by the department chair.)
If there is a critical situation in which you cannot continue the summer practice, please inform the Summer Practice Office.
Please inform the Summer Practice Office at least five days in advance to make any change other than the dates you specified initially.
Those who take health care service through their own family must submit a “Commitment”, and those who do not take health care service through their own family must submit a “Declaration and Commitment” to the Summer Practice office by August 10, 2024. (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice)
Online Summer Practice Application
You can start the necessary procedures by taking the “Doing summer practice is obligatory” document (if the company requests) from K1-209 and by downloading the “Summer Practice Approval Form” from the website. If the company requests the “Doing summer practice is obligatory” document, you need to deliver the form to the company.
Information on the “Summer Practice Approval Form” is written by the student on the online application form. After the summer practice, the original signed form prepared by the company is submitted to the Summer Practice Office.
You can make the online login procedures 15 days before the summer practice starts. (You can get in contact with the Summer Practice office in special cases.) (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice).
You must submit the completed insurance statement and commitment (in the form of receiving healthcare through your own family / not receiving healthcare through your own family) to the Summer Internship Office. (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice or http://pdb.metu.edu.tr/diger-formlar).
You can get the "insurance statement" via e-devlet 2 or 3 days before starting the summer internship. An insurance statement must be submitted to the company you have done your summer internship with.
You can obtain the correspondence you may need during the summer internship from the Summer Internship Office. These documents;
1- The "Summer internship is mandatory" document for the place where you are doing the summer internship.
2- English "Summer internship is mandatory" document for students who will do summer internships abroad.
3-The form required to stay in the dormitory.
If necessary, you can obtain these documents

The Summer Practice Guide
You can print the summer practice guide from the http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice website.
- You need to paste your photo and fill in your information on the first three pages of the guide. The first page will be added to the front of your report.
- Students who do their summer practice abroad will fill the documents in English.
You should follow the announcements when bring your Summer Practice Reports “at the beginning of the semester.” The summer practice reports will be delivered to the Summer Practice Office in October, and information regarding the date (during the Add-Drop week) and method (uploading or bringing a hard copy) will be announced.
You are required to prepare your reports on time. Otherwise, late submissions will not be accepted. If the report cannot be submitted, the summer practice will be considered unsuccessful.
Documents to be submitted to Summer Practice Office;
1-One of page 2 or page 3 of your summer practice guide will remain in the company. The other one will be delivered to the Summer Practice Office in a closed, signed, and sealed envelope by hand or by post.

This semester, Summer Practice Reports will be submitted online to ODTUClass (at CE300 All Sections or CE400 All Sections pages) to save paper/trees and not to create colored-printing costs to students.
The deadline for submission of Summer Practice Reports is 17 October 2023 Tuesday at 23:59.

Students who could not get their advisor approval, or could not register to, or forgot to register to, CE300 or CE400 courses during the 27-29 September Course Registration Days can register to CE300 or CE400 during the Add-Drop days (09-13 October) and get their advisor approval. Then they will be able to log in to CE300 All Sections or CE400 All Sections ODTUClass pages and can submit their summer practice reports. After the end of add-drop days (on the evening of 13 October), students having a problem with registering for CE300 or CE400 courses, or late registration/advisor approval problems, etc., can send an email to me to find a solution for their submission of Summer Practice Reports.
Dear faculty members, you do not need to do anything right now. We already created *Assignment* on ODTUClass (at CE300 All Sections, or CE400 All Sections ODTUClass pages) for students to submit their summer practice reports. After the Summer Practice Report submissions are collected by the submission deadline, I will inform faculty members, and they can grade the Summer Practice Reports in their own sections.

ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SUMMER PRACTICE REPORTS
Dear students,
This semester, you are required to submit your summer practice reports to CE400 All Sections ODTUClass page, to the assignment having the section number you are registered to (file types can be Word, pdf, clear/legible scanned/photo/image file etc). You do not need to get a print-out of your summer practice report.
The deadline for submission of Summer Practice Reports is 17 October 2023, Tuesday, at 23:59.
Probation students should also submit their summer practice reports until the deadline, even though they are not able to register for the course.
Please make sure that you have registered to the CE400 course (section of the instructor that will grade your report) and get your registration advisor's approval.
With your summer practice reports, you are required to submit the following documents, item numbers (1), (2), and (3) written below, before 17 October at 17:00 to K1 Building, Room 209, to Ms. Belgin Turan (if you have questions you can contact Ms. Belgin Turan by email: turanb@metu.edu.tr):
1. Summer Practice Approval Form, signed and stamped by the company (at this link https://ce.metu.edu.tr/en/system/files/stajrehberi_summerpracticeguide_2019.pdf, page 5/10 in English, or page 6/10 in Turkish)

3. The Summer Practice Evaluation Form (2nd page of the summer practice guide) should be filled out, signed, and sealed by the company, and then it will be delivered to the summer practice office (room K1-209) in a closed envelope. The files that are needed to be uploaded to ODTUClass Assignment are written below in item (4). The items (1), (2) and (3) written above need to be submitted to room K1/209 to Ms. Belgin Turan.
4. Summer Practice Report and signed and stamped Daily Summary Forms
SUMMER PRACTICE REPORTS WITHOUT FILLED AND SIGNED SUMMARY FORM FOR EACH DAY OF THE SUMMER PRACTICE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. If you prefer, you can upload Daily Summary Forms as a separate file to ODTUClass assignment.
STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO REGISTER FOR CE400 SUMMER PRACTICE COURSE FOR 2 (two) CONSECUTIVE SEMESTERS NEED TO REPEAT THEIR SUMMER PRACTICES, AS THEIR INTERNSHIP WILL BE INVALID. THIS RULE APPLIES TO PROBATION STUDENTS AS WELL.

Staj Yeri Tercihi ve Bilgi
Öncelikle yapmanız gereken şey stajınızı yapabileceğiniz ve en az bir inşaat mühendisinin olduğu uygun bir yer bulmanızdır.
Staj yapabilmek için 2. Sınıfın 1. Dönemini geçmiş olmak gerekir.
Ayrıca;
221 Engineering Mechanics
231 Engineering Economy
241 Materials Science
ES 202 Mathematics For Engineers
En az üçünü geçmiş olması gerekiyor.
CE 300 Stajı Şantiye stajıdır (20 iş günü). Baraj, yol vb. büyük işlerde %5-95 daha küçük inşaat işlerinde %10-70 arası olmalıdır.
CE 400 stajı yapabilmeniz için CE 300 stajınızı yapıp o dersi geçmeniz beklenir. Tarih olarak uygun olduğu taktirde, yaz dönemi iki stajı da yapabilirsiniz.
CE 400 Stajı Şantiye veya Büro (proje) stajı şeklinde yapılabilir (30 iş günü).
Staj yapılan iş yerinde Cumartesi günleri çalışılıyor ise; Cumartesi iş günü olarak sayılacaktır. Ancak kamu kurumları gibi Cumartesi çalışmayan yerler bu kapsam dışındadır. Cumartesi çalışma durumunun günlük özet formunda stajyerden sorumlu yetkili amir tarafından imzalanmış olması gerekir.
Bu yıl ki; akademik takvime göre; en erken staja başlama tarihi: 26 Haziran, en geç staj tamamlama tarihi: 26 Eylül 2023'dir.
Yaz Okuluna devam edecek öğrencilerimiz; 31 Temmuz ve 14 Eylül 2023 tarihleri arası yaz okulunda olacakları için bu tarihlerin dışında staj yapabileceklerdir.
Yaz stajı yapan öğrenciler, takip eden dönemin başında staj dersini (CE300 veya CE400) kayıtlarına eklemek zorundadırlar. Yaz stajı sonrası 2 (iki) dönem staj dersini kayıtlarına ekleyemeyen öğrencilerin stajı geçersiz sayılır. Bu kural Sınamalı (Probation) durumundaki öğrenciler için de geçerlidir. Bu durumdaki öğrencilerin 2 dönem sonrasında yeni bir staj yapması gerekir.
Yaz stajı yapan öğrenciler, takip eden dönem başında staj raporlarını Staj Ofisine teslim etmek zorundadırlar. Aksi halde stajları geçersiz sayılır. Bu kural Sınamalı (Probation) durumundaki öğrenciler için de geçerlidir.

Staj yapacağınız şirket'e " Staj Zorunlu" belgesini teslim edip "Yaz Stajı Onay Formunu" staj web sitesinden temin ederek gerekli işlemleri başlatabilirsiniz.
Yaz stajı onay formundaki bilgiler öğrenci tarafından online başvuru formuna yazılır. Staj sonrasında ise firma tarafından imzalı olarak hazırlanan formun orijinali kayıt döneminde Staj Ofisine teslim edilir.
Staja başlamadan 15 gün önce (özel durumlarda staj ofisi ile görüşebilirsiniz) online giriş işlemlerinizi yapabilirsiniz (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/tr/stajlar).

Staj yapılacak firmaya teslim edeceğiniz sigorta bildirgelerinizi staja başlayacağınız tarihten 3 gün öncesinden e-devlet üzerinden alabilirsiniz.
Staj yaparken ihtiyacınız olabilecek yazışmalardan "Staj Yapması Zorunludur" yazısını web sitemizden temin edebilirsiniz.

3-Staj yaptığınıza dair kaldığınız yurda açıklamalı bir yazı.
Gerektiği takdirde bu belgeleri K1- 209 nolu staj ofisinden temin edebilirsiniz.

a-İlk üç sayfasına fotoğrafınızı yapıştırıp, bilgilerinizi doldurmalısınız. İlk sayfa raporunuzun önüne eklenecektir.
b-İngilizce nüshaları yurt dışında staj yapacak öğrencilerimiz dolduracaktır.
Staj Raporlarınızı "Dönem Başında" getirirken;
Bu yıl staj raporları Ekim ayı içerisinde duyuru yapılacak olan tarihlerde (Add-Drop haftasında) ne şekilde teslim edileceği ayrıca; bir duyuru ile bilgilendirme yapılacaktır.

Staj yapılacak firmaya teslim edeceğiniz sigorta bildirgelerinizi staja başlayacağınız tarihin 2 veya 3 gün öncesinden Staj Ofisinden temin edebilirsiniz.
Staj yaparken ihtiyacınız olabilecek yazışmaları staj ofisinden temin edebilirsiniz. Bu belgeler;
1-Staj yaptığınız yer için "staj yapması zorunludur" belgesi,
2-Yurt dışında staj yapacak öğrencilere İngilizce olarak staj yapması zorunludur belgesi,
3-Staj yaptığınıza dair kaldığınız yurda açıklamalı bir yazı.
Gerektiği takdirde bu belgeleri K1- 209 nolu staj ofisinden temin edebilirsiniz.

Staj rehberinin;
a-İlk üç sayfasına fotoğrafınızı yapıştırıp, bilgilerinizi doldurmalısınız. İlk sayfa raporunuzun önüne eklenecektir.
b-İngilizce nüshaları yurt dışında staj yapacak öğrencilerimiz dolduracaktır.
Staj Raporlarınızı "Dönem Başında" getirirken;
Bu yıl staj raporları Ekim ayı içerisinde duyuru yapılacak olan tarihlerde (Add-Drop haftasında) Staj Ofisine teslim edilecektir. Raporlarınızı zamanında teslim edebilmeniz için vaktinde hazırlamanız beklenmektedir, geç raporlar kabul edilmeyecektir. Staj raporu teslim edilmeyen stajlar başarısız sayılacaktır.
Staj Ofisine getirilecek belgeler;
1-Staj rehberinin 2. ve 3. sayfasının biri staj yaptığınız kurumda kalacak diğeri kapalı, imzalı ve mühürlü zarf içinde elden ya da posta yoluyla,
2-İşverenin doldurduğu Anket formu (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/tr/stajlar),
3-Yaz Stajı Onay Formu,
K1-209 nolu staj ofisine teslim edilecektir.

ŞİRKETTEN ÜCRET ALAN ÖĞRENCİLERİMİZİN DİKKATİNE! (Kamu Kurumlarında Staj Yapacak Öğrenciler Bu Formu Doldurmayacaklar)
02.12.2016 tarihli ve 6764 sayılı Kanun'un 48'inci maddesi ile 3308 sayılı Kanuna Ek Geçici 12'nci maddesi ile işletmelerde mesleki eğitim gören, staj veya tamamlayıcı eğitime devam eden öğrencilere yapılacak ödemelerin asgari ücretin net tutarının yüzde otuzundan az olamayacağı ve ödenebilecek en az ücretin; yirmiden az personel çalıştıran işletmeler için üçte ikisi, yirmi ve üzerinde personel çalıştıran işletmeler için üçte birinin devlet katkısı olarak ödenmesi hüküm altına alınmıştır.
Kamu Kurum ve Kuruluşları ile bunlara ait işletmelerde mesleki eğitim gören, staj yapan ve tamamlayıcı eğitime devam eden öğrenciler, staj yapacak işletme bulunamaması nedeniyle stajını okulda yapan öğrenciler hariç diğer şirketlerde ücret karşılığı staj yapan öğrencilere ödenen ücretin yukarıda belirtilen kısmı İşsizlik Fonundan karşılanacaktır.
Söz konusu ödeme, özel işletmelere aktarım şeklinde yapılacağından, Üniversitemiz öğrencilerinden zorunlu staj eğitimine tabi olup, işletmelerle imzaladığı sözleşme gereği ücret alanların Yükseköğretim Kurulu Başkanlığına bildirilebilmesi için aşağıdaki belgelerin staj ofisine teslim edilmesi gerekmektedir.
İstenen Belgeler:
1-Staj yapacağı yerden asgari ücretin yüzde 30'unu aldığını sözleşmeyle belgelemesi
2- İşletmedeki çalışan sayısının belgelenmesi,
3-Şirketin IBAN numarası,
4-http://pdb.metu.edu.tr/stajyer web adresinde yer alan "İşsizlik Fonu Katkı Formu"nun eksiksiz doldurulması beklenmektedir.
