To the Attention of Students Who Will Do Their Summer Practice!
Place of Summer Practice Preference and Information
First of all, you need to find a suitable place which has at least one civil engineer to do your summer practice.
CE 300 is the construction site internship (20 working days) and, CE 400 can be done as a site or office (project) summer practice (30 working days).
If you work on Saturdays at the company office or construction site, Saturday will be counted as working days. However, places such as public institutions that do not work on Saturdays are excluded from this scope. The Saturday working situation must be signed in the daily summary form by the chief who is responsible for the intern.
According to the academic calendar, the earliest summer practice start date is June 26 and, the latest summer practice completion date is September 19. 2023.
Students attending the summer school, which is between July 17 and August 28 2023 will be able to do a summer practice except for these days.
Students who will do summer practice have to add the summer practice course (CE300 or CE400) to their records at the beginning of the following semester. If a student does not register the summer practice course in 2 (two) semesters after the summer practice, the summer practice will be invalid. This rule also applies to students in Probation status. Students in this situation need to do a new summer practice after two semesters.
Students who do summer practice have to submit their summer practice reports to the "Summer Practice Office" at the beginning of the following semester. Otherwise, the summer practice will be invalid. This rule also applies to students in Probation status.
You can find information about places of summer practice in our "Summer Practice Board". The online summer practice application starts on February 20, 2023, and ends on August 28, 2023. (Except those whose excuse is accepted by the department chair.)
If there is a critical situation in which you cannot continue the summer practice, please inform the Summer Practice Office.
Please inform the Summer Practice Office at least five days in advance to make any change other than the dates you specified initially.
For those who take health care service through own family must submit "Commitment" and who do not take health care service through own family must submit "Declaration and Commitment" to the Summer Practice office until August 10, 2023. (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice)
Online Summer Practice Application
You can start the necessary procedures by taking the "Doing summer practice is obligatory" document (if the company requests) from K1-209 and by downloading the "Summer Practice Approval Form" from the website. If the company requests the "Doing summer practice is obligatory" document, you need to deliver the form to the company.
Information on the "Summer Practice Approval Form" is written by the student on the online application form. After the summer practice, the original signed form prepared by the company is submitted to the Summer Practice Office.
You can make the online login procedures 15 days before the summer practice starts. (You can get in contact with Summer Practice office in special cases.) (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice).
You must submit the completed insurance statement and commitment (in the form of receiving healthcare through your own family / not receiving healthcare through your own family) to the Summer Internship Office. (http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice or http://pdb.metu.edu.tr/diger-formlar).
You can get the "insurance statement" via e-devlet 2 or 3 days before starting the summer internship. An insurance statement must be submitted to the company you have done your summer internship with.
You can obtain the correspondence you may need during the summer internship from the Summer Internship Office. These documents;
1- The "Summer internship is mandatory" document for the place where you are doing summer internship.
2- English "Summer internship is mandatory" document for students who will do summer internship abroad.
3-The form required to stay in the dormitory.

The Summer Practice Guide
You can print the summer practice guide from the http://ce.metu.edu.tr/summer-practice website.
a-You need to paste your photo and fill your information on the first three pages of the guide. The first page will be added to the front of your report.
b-Students who do their summer practice abroad will fill the documents in English.
While bringing your Summer Practice Reports "at the beginning of the semester";
The summer practice reports will be delivered to the Summer Practice Office on the dates that will be announced in October (Add-Drop Week). You are required to prepare your reports on time. Otherwise, late submissions will not be accepted. If the report cannot be submitted, the summer practice will be considered unsuccessful.
Documents to be submitted to Summer Practice Office;
1-One of page 2 or page 3 of your summer practice guide will remain in the company. The other one will be delivered to the Summer Practice Office in a closed, signed, and sealed envelope by hand or by post.

3-Summer Practice Approval Form
These documents must be submitted to K1 209, Summer Practice Office.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SUMMER PRACTICE REPORTS*
Dear students / faculty members,
This message is about the submission of Summer Practice Reports. Students who did not carry out summer practice in the summer of 2022 do not need to read the rest of this email.
This semester Summer Practice Reports will be submitted online, from ODTUClass (at CE300 All Sections, or CE400 All Sections ODTUClass pages) in order to save paper/trees and not to create colored-printing cost to students (more than 150 students registered to CE300 and more than 125 students registered to CE400 courses).
The deadline for submission of Summer Practice Reports is 17 October 2022 Monday at 23:59.
Please read the long announcement below (which is also written on ODTUClass pages of CE300 All Sections and CE400 All Sections).
*** Students who could not get their advisor approval, or could not register to, or forgot to register to, CE300 or CE400 courses during 28-30 September Course Registration Days, can register to CE300 or CE400 during the Add-Drop days (10-14 October) and get their advisor approval. Then they will be able to log-in to CE300 All Sections or CE400 All Sections ODTUClass pages, and can submit their summer practice reports. After the end of add-drop days (at the evening of 14 October), students having a problem with registration to CE300 or CE400 courses, or late registration / advisor approval problems etc, can send an email to me to find a solution for their submission of Summer Practice Reports.
Dear faculty members, you do not need to do anything right now. I already created *Assignment* at ODTUClass (at CE300 All Sections, or CE400 All Sections ODTUClass pages) for students to submit their summer practice reports. After the Summer Practice Report submissions are collected by the submission deadline, I will inform faculty members and they can grade the Summer Practice Reports of their own sections.
ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SUMMER PRACTICE REPORTS
This semester, you are required to submit your summer practice reports to CE400 All Sections ODTUClass page, to the assignment having the section number you are registered to (file types can be Word, pdf, clear/legible scanned/photo/image file etc). You do not need to get a print-out of your summer practice report.
The deadline for submission of Summer Practice Reports is 17 October 2022, Monday, at 23:59.
Probation students should also submit their summer practice reports until the deadline, even-though they are not able to register for the course.
Please make sure that you have registered to CE400 course (section of the instructor that will grade your report) and get your registration advisor approval.
With your summer practice reports you are required to submit the following documents, item numbers (1), (2) and (3) written below, before 17 October at 17:00 to K1 Building, Room 209 to Ms. Belgin Turan (if you have questions you can contact Ms. Belgin Turan by email: email@example.com):
1. Summer Practice Approval Form, signed and stamped by the company (at this link https://ce.metu.edu.tr/en/system/files/stajrehberi_summerpracticeguide_2..., page 5/10 in English, or page 6/10 in Turkish)

3. Summer Practice Evaluation Form (2nd page of the summer practice guide) should be filled out, signed and sealed by the company and then it will be delivered to the summer practice office (room K1-209) in a closed envelope. The files that are needed to be uploaded to ODTUClass Assignment are written below in item (4). The items (1), (2) and (3) written above need to be submitted to room K1/209 to Ms. Belgin Turan.
4. Summer Practice Report and signed and stamped Daily Summary Forms
SUMMER PRACTICE REPORTS WITHOUT FILLED AND SIGNED SUMMARY FORMS FOR EACH DAY OF THE SUMMER PRACTICE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. If you prefer, you can upload Daily Summary Forms as a separate file to ODTUClass assignment.
STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO REGISTER FOR CE400 SUMMER PRACTICE COURSE FOR 2 (two) CONSECUTIVE SEMESTERS NEED TO REPEAT THEIR SUMMER PRACTICES, AS THEIR INTERNSHIP WILL BE INVALID. THIS RULE APPLIES TO PROBATION STUDENTS AS WELL.
